This is Melissa. I started watching Melissa’s videos around 2 years ago and fell in love with her style. She is a successful reseller and has a great eye for fun and trendy pieces. Melissa isn’t afraid of bright colors or making a bold statement.
This is Ashley. Watching her videos will make you feel like you’ve made another hilarious, honest, and genuine friend.
This is Haley. She knows how to style sweatpants and make them look fashionable (something that I am still trying to figure out).
This is Sarah. Sarah’s style is very similar to mine and her videos always make me want to go thrifting.

Who knew that there were so many styles of thrifting and they create ‘famous’ thrifters. I’m not a style driven person, and usually if I find something I like and fits, I buy it. How do you develop a ‘style’ of thrifting?

I personally don’t really have a set ‘style’. Similar to you, I just buy what I like and what makes me happy:) I am also inspired by YouTube videos like the ones in this post and looking on Instagram& Pinterest to recreate those outfits and thrift similar pieces

Jaden, thank you for posting these sites. Although I love thrifting, I can seldom buy clothes from thrift stores. However, I never let that stop me from looking. I’ll start looking for similar sites. Thanks for keeping us updated.

I love this! It’s really cool that you added links to videos because I think youtube is incredible. Thrifting is one of my favorite things to do. What are some of your favorite thrift stores? Ones that you think have the most quality items? A good variety?

My ‘staple thrift store’ is Goodwill. There are a lot of locations and I always can find something. However, I have noticed that prices are getting a little higher so other thrift stores may be cheaper. Salvation Army has a half off sale every Wednesday and every other Saturday I believe; I haven’t been there in awhile though. I also go to the Goodwill Bins, where clothing is literally sold by the pound so everything is very cheap. The Goodwill Bins are definitely an experience, but if you enjoy thrifting you should check them out: you really have to search to find some gems (I think I’ll do a blog post about the bins sometime in the future) This summer I’m hoping to check out some other, smaller scale thrift stores. Do people still call them the “cootie bins”? I have a friend, Lisa Marsicek, who’s an expert thrifter, and that’s what she always said. My best find there ever was one of those plastic car-top carriers, like a Thule, but the budget brand that Sears made. And it had a great name: the X-Cargo, with a picture of a snail. Get it? We used that for years, attached with janky brackets I made and straps, until we finally bought a real Thule.

I’ll have to check these people out! One of my favorite Youtubers that used to thrift and what she got popular for was https://www.youtube.com/clothesencounters BUT since becoming popular, I don’t see very many thrift hauls anymore 😦 I think I’ve said this to you before, but you should start a channel and start uploading your thrift hauls. Have you ever thought of doing that?

I also follow Jenn (clothesencounters); thrift hauls are my favorite videos to watch on YouTube so that’s probably how I found her.
Yes, I have definitely thought about starting a channel. I think that I’m hesitant to do so for a couple reasons: I don’t know very much about filming and editing and it’s really putting yourself out there. I do think it could be a lot of fun though, so maybe I should start seriously considering it.

Yes, it can take a lot of courage to put yourself out there. I started a channel when I was in middle school and I was doing good, and I stopped because I was scared my friends would find out. So I quit! But I think now, wow what if I would have stuck with it, what would my channel have become. I’m re-starting it up now. I think you should definitely try! there’s lots of videos out there to help, and just practice with your camera and never upload it. That’s what I did!
